Post subject: Finicky Paso With Weber Carb ? Any Help Appreciated ! Posted: Mon Mar 20, 2006 4:15 am |

|
Hi All,
I have a 1988 750 Paso with a Weber Carb, K&N Square Filter
and Rennsort Exhaust.. I do not think that any jetting was done when pipes and filter were put on.
My Paso is very finicky about how it likes to be started. 2-3 twist on the throttle and no choke, then a little choke, then a little more choke. Once running it runs fine but after about 10-15 minutes of running it starts popping when coming to a stop and when you open the throttle before taking off (I had a Harley Sportster that acted similar).. Also the idle will tend to elevate at times and you have to whack the throttle to get it to come back down. I have been told that these are characteristics of the Weber carb and that the only way to fix this is to convert to dual carbs off of a 90's series 900ss or 750ss.
If any one has any advice on how to fix this problem or ideas on why it runs this way please advise...
Thanks
Jeff

As a newbie or an oldie to this or any other site, with a complex question such as yours, first thing to do is check archives. In this case type in under search"webber carb", 79 posts come up. Many people spent much time making these posts and i'm sure your answer is in there.

Jeff, Welcome to the forum. As mentioned there is 3-4 years of posts to excavate thru BUT there is also a tech faq at the top of the 750 Forum that has some weber info.
From what I have read (my Paso has Dellortos) the Weber is quite problematic and will take a big effort to make it run decent. The Dellortos have no such issues and some have aslo converted to some Mikunis from the ealry Monster 750.
Good luck with your Paso and this is a terriffic resource for all Paso questions.
