The GoldenTyre option of 130/60 and 160/60 are pretty expensive (would cost about £330 plus delivery to import a set to the UK) so am looking at going the alternative route of a 130/70 front (and raise the mudguard) plus a new rear tyre. I know the size options and that there are lots and lots of discussions here on the forum but I cant seem to find the info I want.

Namely, is there a specific 150/80 tyre or a specific 180/60 tyre that will fit on a 750 Paso without fouling the chain, swinging arm, need sprocket spacers etc? I'd like to fit and ride a set rather than have to do a lot of fiddling about to make them fit, as other commitments mean I am a bit time poor at the moment.

I am sure I have seen the info somewhere (Avons??) but just cant seem to track it down

You can remove the Avon AV72 Cobra from your list as it`s one of the wider 180s.

From my memory, the Metzler ME880 Marathon is about the most narrow 180/60 on the market at 175mm (6.9"). there also is the Bridgestone 180/60 G722 Excedra B-16 at 173mm (6 13/16"), but I have never actually seen the tire.

Here we go again Muxey .... he is just jelous ( G ) I have a heap of new Michelins

that I just know is driving him nuts I had originally intended to wear these boys out but at present rate of consumption will last well into the next millennium . Some people??? !!!! think that just coz they weren't made yesterday that they are no good but I have seen million dollar Ferrari's racing on tyres made in the 70's .
Personally , Graemer57 , I wouldn't muck about trying to shoe horn the wrong sized tires onto rims and into frames they were never meant to fit ..... do the 17" conversion ( its not hard specially on a P750 as there is no radiator to get in the way ) and enjoy a wide range of choices in new , modern tires and ( so I am told ) a great improvement in handling

Really ? I thought they had made it to steel rims . In all seriousness I wouldn't be nearly as nervous on 4 old tires on a car as I would be with 2 on a bike , and regardless of how I store these old Michelins they are getting older faster than Im using them . There will come a time when all they are good for is display on some collectable duke in a show room

but at present rate of consumption will last well into the next millennium

Of course, on the basis that I doubt that any of us will be around in the next millenium, the best course of action woudl be for you to sell me a pair from that lovely pile of Michelins and I can help wear them out for you :-)

Mctool, a year ago ( Well 2 years ago) they could have fetched big bucks to the right fool.
Now only a fool would find them of any use other than a bonfire or an ornamental

To get back to the original question. I would definitely recommend the Avons. I have been using them for a few months & i am now confident pushing my 906 through my favourite twisties. Check the other threads, you don't need many mods & they are easy. Don't waste time or money on a 17" conversion. Go the Avons & you & your Paso will live happily ever after.
