Pasonut...

the potentiometer screw on the ECU is for idle mix trim - CO setting...
it's a bit of a black art to do anything with; the screw is indexed but you can hardly feel or hear the "clicks"...
It re-sets after one full revolution...so you kinda need to know where you're at with the CO sensor when adjusting.

I suppose you can play with it "by ear" but it will only be obvious at idle...

It would have little or no effect on open throttle settings - but that would be dependent on the setup of the throttle position sensor (TPS)

assuming the bike is set up to "factory specs" the last thing to play with is the idle mix...

in all this excitement I can't remember if I heard 6 clicks or only 5...
are ya feelin' lucky, punk; well - do ya?

Jaffa - thanks for the welcome back; don't suppose you can spot me a lazy $50...???
I still have my 907 and the SS..and I recently couldn't resist a verrrry cute 748S that was winking at me. Yellow velvet!!
Kinda a funny feeling to hit a corner at 8,000 RPM and still have 3,000 up your sleeve after.

It's hard to decide which to ride sometimes...but the 907 does have a certain charm the others lack...and is my preferred cafe cruiser. I just wish it didn't eat batteries; goddam analogue clock...

Pasonut - the rally would be a good thing...big questions - where to meet up or what event to attend??
I was disappointed we didn't get invites to the Royal wedding for the motorcade; guess they thought we'd scare the horses - aside from the minor detail that a first gear idle is 15 - 20km/hr...the procession would be over before it started.

sorry I haven't been more attentive to the board here but I had this foreign guy staying with me until recently; he didn't like technology like computors...and amused himself by banging his head on the floor every few hours...I sure was glad when he said he was going back to Pakistan...
dunno what I'm gunna do with all this fertilizer he bought...funny - he didn't even do any gardening...

when Brad the Bike Boy, did my bike I think he measured a specific voltage to set it correctly.
I asked him to reset all settings back to factory to establish a base before any playing was to be done.
He discovered my chip was not able to be read on his computer, tried his own 851 chip etc.

I was having starting issues and hunting at slow speed that were both cured with the FBF stage 1 chip.
I think from memory the FBF chip was a lot richer at low speeds and the timing was quite different. At high speed and WOT it was pretty much the same as std chip.

We could make the Snowy Ride the Paso rally, located in Thredbo, 3500 other bikes around, central for some [jeff], good roads!!

http://snowyride.org.au/

I am planning to go again this year. If its too busy then we could start the Paso rally on the Sunday....

Claude, thinking of doing the DOCV ride on 22nd, depends in the weather of course!

back to the intial post - the new dynobike dyno reads 5 or a bit more % lower than the old one, and if it makes 72 while being that lean it'd be equivalent to at least 77 or so i'd think on the old one that i used for years. which is about what an st2 with pipes makes, and about what you'd expect i guess given they're much the same engine.

it's too lean at wot. it'd make most power with 13.2:1 or so and be happiest on the road with around 12.7:1, and should make a couple more hp with more fuel i'd think. the difference between 12.7 and 14.2 is around 15%, so it's quite a difference in mixture.

I noticed bb reply to this post recently, and it makes sense, thinking back now with the FIM chip the outer exhaust outlets (chrome bits) were black with fuel smoke (running rich) and I think it might be on the right ball park figure of 12 to 13%...now I'm curious to find out.

This is the map of my 907IE. Almost 75 hp and 53 ftlbs. torque. The curve is fairly linear and smooth.
My engine has been balanced, blueprinted, bearings shimmed, heads flowed and polished. Same bore and stroke.

...interesting du907, not only you have resurrected your bike, but it performs well too, you have a couple of ponies over mine
did you get a air/fuel mixture graph as well?

Both the power/torq figures are more or less the same. only a few hp difference.
you can claerly see that the airflow gets restricted over 7000 rpm.
torq drops of and power stays the same.
porting improves the situation a little bit. valve timing and larger valves would benefit.
MyEcu is for sure a intersting option for the old P7
