they are certainly air release...

I had a set on an XS1100 years ago..and tried pressurizing them (BAD idea).
first...you can't balance the pressure in each fork...so what does Laddie do??? connects both forks to ONE valve with a tee fitting and plastic tube (just brilliant...methinks)..

result: seems like riding on a cushion of air..for a while...but there is increased stiction to get them to move at first...
all is good until eventually oil pisses EVERYWHERE because the seals will wear VERY quickly...the air pressure forces the seal lip in contact with the fork, by this time the air is lost instantly.

The Goldwing had this set up and it was supposed to have 7 PSI in the front minimum.

It's been sold tho and I only got to ride it for about 50 miles.

As a new member, it's a pleasure to learn that it's dangerous to measure air presure in M1R fork, especially because there is NO air in it ! I do like this kind of humour, guys, and it's very usefull to improve my english !
