I got the bike home last week, finally, had a chance to actually work on today, and it took me like three hours to get it running well. Really, it was running so well... So, took it out around block. That's all. Just around the block to see how it felt. Slowly. Oh god. Someone (???) had taken rear brake caliper and rotor off and put back on, did not tighten rear caliper main mounting bolt, or rotor mounting allen head bolts. Bolts on rotor backed out. Rear end locked up, rear caliper hangar destroyed, low speed crash, fell onto right shoulder and slid along street a few feet.

After incident (or as Captain Nemo said to Professor Arronax, "No sir, an accident this time") picked up bike and got it home, then fell over at neighbors, had to get cold packs and pain pills. Just getting right arm to work again.

Let this be a lesson. Never trust a mechanic you do not know, who can't get a bike running, who leaves gas lines disconnected, important bolts finger tight. There is "as is" sale, and "we know you are a novice so we are just going to set you forth and hope you don't die sale 'cause we don't have time to mess with this". Probably unfair, I should have been more careful and checked ALL the bolts, just didn't think anyone would be dumb enough not to torque these down. I mean, COME ON!

I am so damn pissed off. I am so out of it. I am sad.

Engine ok, wheels ok (2 sets), frame ok, new tires. Had fancy bodywork off the bike so I could listen to noises, so that's ok. Will be parting out bike now to someone who can use good front calipers, engine, bodywork, swingarm, new tires, two sets of wheels, good 36mm Delorto carbs, new battery and all that jazz. I'll never find the parts to put it all back together now. No time for another real project, no money for the parts. Insurance won't give me spit on a 20 year old bike.

So, if you need good Paso parts less rear caliper, right side mirror and associated, let me know. My accident and NDE is your gain. Will give you pix of anything you need for your bike.

KEEP IT AND FIX IT. Sounds like you have some mechanical ability - you just need to apply it. Sounds like the damage was not that great. You'll feel better in the morning.

Keep it and fix it. It'll make you and the bike better. And next time check everything before you ride, and take it SLOWLY.

I had my bike for about 2 or 3 weeks - btw it was my first bike also - I had polished it, waxed it down etc and were waiting for an appointment at my dealer to have the first service done. When I got o him on the day of the appointment he was out to get some stuff so as I live near to the mountains I decided to make a small tour and come back later. No need to say that later on I crashed the bike. Tank badly dented, footpegs broken as well as front fairing, right mirror, right front fairing etc. It was my own fault and I was really lucky as I slid in a field. However as you are I was really disappointed and pissed and put the bike away for a while, then slowely started to look for parts and luckily enough they all came my way. I never regretted keeping the bike as if it is ok it really rewards you. Great looks, nice sound ...
This goes under lessons learnt.
Talk to that mechanic or sue him if he sold the bike to you as ok and road legal but keep it.
Mirrors are not that hard to find specially if the FAR units are ok for you and the rear brake and hanger appear on ebay on regular basis.

So better put the bike in the garage until things simmer down, then check all of it and torque down all bolts. That may take you a day but you`ll know you`ve done it yourself and some time in future you will have forgotten what happened and for sure not regret not having sold the bike in bits.

I really, really can't handle another project right now, and I have not hurt myself this badly since elementary school when I had a concussion.

I'll certainly look at another, newer bike in the future, but I just am not available to be spread any more thin right now, emotionally or financially. This bike should go to a good home where it can be unpranged and loved.

Don't part it. Once the best bits are gone it really will be worthless.

The bits will probably sell but I doubt you'll see much if any profit overall?

You will also probably be sorting bits out to sell for months maybe years to come?

Sorry to hear bad luck, KEEP IT, if you must, just chuck a cover over and forget it for a while, you can always decide later, you were always going to have to do work on your bike, this time it happens to be repairs to damage as opposed to other bits and pieces, just hang in there and in a month or two you'll come to terms with it!

I regret for your bad luck, but you can't ask us if we agree to part a Paso.
We all are Paso's supporters, so we all never will tell you to part the bike, even if the frame was broken, the wheels dented, etc.
Really, it doesn't seem the damages are so bad to decide to part the bike out.
So keep the bike or sell her as is.

...and by the way, the bike is for sale, runs, has spare parts as stated before, fairings are intact.

Well my bike looks a hell of a lot worse than yours does, I can guarantee you of that, she had stood still since 1996 until I fired her up.

Cover her/him/it up get yourself repaired and then review the damage and think of the grin factor when get back on the road.

Tis but a scratch! Regardless of fault, don't part it out. Sell her whole or fix it up.

What year is that bike?? The regulator is mounted on the right side there and the coil is also mounted differently.

Heal fast and make up your mind when you have a clear head.

If you have all the receipts for the previous garage work then take the 750 to your Ducati dealer, have them price the job to return it to the road. Then sue the idiot who 'forgot' to secure the rear wheel/brake assembly. Its just not good enough.

what are the parts broken/needed ? I hardly can see any damage unless footpegs and some paint came off from the lower edge of the tank.
