Ladies and gentelman,

I am thinking about converting a Paso to a chopper and remove all the fiberglass body work. Motocreations.com has done a great job on some Ducatis and their work looks so cool. I have some ideas about the triple clamp and the exaust modfication for more clearance after lowering. I like to get some ideas if anybody has had any experience with choppers.

Hi Max,

My recommendation would be: DON'T!!!
The Motocreations.com concept appears to work best with a tubular frame which is on show, no good with a Paso; use a Monster, there's more of them and likely to be cheaper.
The site features a MHR customised, this is currently for sale for NZ$26,995 here is the link:

Fraser,
Thanks for the reply. I have two Pasos one Limited and a blue 1988. I like to do the conversion on the blue Paso I already have. I rather buy a Moto Guzzi Ambassador or Elderado if I have to get a Monster. I don't mind spending up to about $2,500 dollars for the Paso conversion. I can find a Moto Guzzi for about 4K and spend about another 3K to restore it, 7k in total. I rather do that if I have to spend more than $5,000 dollars.

I can't believe I just read "Paso" and "Chopper" in the same sentence much less the same web site!

This sounds like an Internet weirdo. Please pay no attention.

Why you guys are offended ? I have loved my white Paso since the day I got it 20 years ago. I know the bike inside out and do all the mechanic work myself. I just like to have a chopper and it has to be a Ducati. Anyway, I have an extra paso which I like to do some experiment on.
Mr. JWILLIAM, thanks for your comment.

We are sorry if our reaction surprises you, Max. It's just that some of us believe that some things in this world should be left the way they are. That is, if something is a work of good design, that good design should be respected, and not changed. Or at least, not changed very much. For centuries, Italy has produced some of the most beautiful of man's designs - buildings, art, music, jewellery, and machines. We believe Ducatis follow this tradition, and should not be messed with very much.

I am sure many of us enjoy the work produced by Orange County Choppers, especially the designs commissioned by Nasa, the US Army, and others. I think the Harley motor is a good one for a chopper.

But please, not a Ducati.

If you want to build a chopper, do it right and part out the Paso, take the money you get from that and buy a basket case Harley. That way you will help someone keep their Paso on the road and you will have a real chopper. Please don't chop a Paso!!!!

I never condone butchering and molesting anything that is complete and operational. If you *must* build a Ducati chopper, I'd prefer you found a damaged Ducati and rebuild it, but......it's your bike and you can do whatever you want with it.

BTW - Pasos aren't worth a lot right now, but rest assured that it'll probably be worth even less when you are done with it.

I have seen some Duc Monster choppers that I like and the use of that original design makes sense to me. Even though the essence of a chopper is rebellion. Rebellion against the law, form, function, and general mechanical practicality, refinement and evolution. But.... lets face it choppers look COOL! They are SO COOL in fact that they rebel against good brakes, seating, chassis, shocks, steering geometry and passenger comfort (lol). But again choppers look COOL! I truly believe this as I love all motorcycles and have an appreciation for moto art.... With enough money you can build or buy anything. Just remember, when you are TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS into this "experiment" and knee deep in parts on your shop floor trying to get your square tubed Paso frame, motor, pedals, switch gear, tail section, and fuel tank to look COOL, that we had this talk.

Anyway, I like the idea of starting with the Duc Indiana because all of the components of a chopper are already there. Or any round tube framed Ducati would be better than a Paso. Not to save a Paso, but because it's frame is just so damned UGLY!

I like we all are attempting to force him don't do it, everyone with a different reason    :!: :!: :!:

Max,
don't do it!
... however, if you decide to do it, I guess you'll not find here any good advice.

Ciao
