am looking for my first Paso. Would be extremely grateful if those with more experience could comment on any of the bikes that are for sale, am still not quite sure what I am looking at e.g. differences in silencers, how to tell if 16" wheel mods have been made Do any of them belong to forum members? |

Greame, if they're not too far have a look at a few 750/906, (leave the cheque book at home) also holla had his bike for sale not long ago and thats a good looking 907, have a look at that one too...then you can make a good choice on the bike that better suits you ![]() PS: my choice would be a 907....but then again, I might be biased ![]() |

For me all 3 of the 750's look nice - the first one has had the wheels painted black but is still on original oscams from what I can see The second one got a fair bit of press in Classic motrocyle mechanics or one of the other rags a few years ago but looks reasonable despite the "modifications" like sticker kits. Its being sold by Red Dog who are a pretty good dealership with a genuine Italian Ducati mechanic who is a Ducati nut ! The Blue one looks the straightest of them all and has the best pictures as far as I'm concerned - i.e. someone has taken care over cleaning the bike up and taken them in good light etc - not just snapped a few and hoped - so in my opion thats always a good start. Its also got a DOCGB sticker on the grab rail (I think) so that should show thats its been owned by an enthusiast at some point In my opinion they are all a touch overpriced however if they sell for that I'll be very pleased as I can justify my garage to the missus as appreciating assets ! ![]() Regarding the 906's the one in Caterham looks ok apart from the stupid screen conversion and the monstrous mirros - sadly you are looking at a new top fairing to properly correct those "modifications" The second 906 looks very nice with its very good condition contis etc but is hideeously expensive in my opinion |

Thanks for the info The 906 with silly mirrors was on Gumtree recently for £1350 but this guy now seems to have taken it in p/x for his car and added £300 onto the price. It is quite close to me so might take a look this week if i can. Re: the Blue 750 I know this is going to sound daft but have had two dukes before, a 600SS and a 900SS, and both were red because i have tended to be a bit of a stick in the mud regarding ducati colours and only considered red or yellow. Must admit the blue one looks ok, just hadnt considered that colour before! Have some reservations about the Red Dog bike as magazine article said it was a repaired insurance write off. Have already used the appreciating assett angle with the Boss to justify my intention of getting a Paso :-) |

I've actually convinced her now that I'm restoring the 750 as an appreciating calssic for her to ride when she gets her licence - that way I've been able to justify recurring spend on rare new parts too. I'm not entirely sure she's totally bought it and think it may all come round and bite me in the nuts soon ! ![]() From what I have seen the paint work is so much better on the Blue bikes than the red ones - there are so many different shades of red throughout the timeline I think Ducati were using the cheapest paint supplier for red they could find. Certainly talking to a few people who were round teh factory in the late eighties if they couldn't find components like cyclinder heads in the grade 1 parts bins on the line they'd pick the nearest one in the reject bin and bolt it on ! |

Oscams are the wheels the 750 and 906 came from the factory equipped with ![]() ![]() This would be the early 750 Paso wheel and these the later 906 style Also note the early wheels are 3 piece and the later one piece |

Do oscams suffer from similar problems with the rivets as old Honda Comstars do? You know I'm beginning to think it is worth getting a Paso just to be part of this forum! Everyone seems willing to help and very forgiving of the lack of knowledge that one always has when coming to any new subject :-) |

No,btw the bad comstar wheels all went back to the factory before any got sold to the general public. Anything else you hear is pure story tellin ![]() They do however suffer from a severe allergy to pot holes and roadside hazards as do many light weight wheels and great care must be taken when changing tires. Not the sort of thing you want to take to to corner jobber, unless of course he is equipped for such things. |

Higgy - I'm with G on this one - mine is one of the early Ohlins 750's and that had the black finished Oscams - were those on an 851 ? Later 750's and some early 906's had red centres I think To answer the original question though - my Oscams have been fine (although not turned for sometime - the lacker is a little thin and some of the more agressive wheel cleaners can take it clean off though ! (Incidentally I'm in my last week at work so have more time to be helpful than usual! ![]() |
