I am looking for a link or ph# to somewhere I can get good valves & guides, along with shims...

Anyone have any advise as to which I should buy? Up grades?

I think FBF has good parts. maybe Manley also as they are know for top class valves.
there's not so mucht to upgrade. only the exhaust guides a prone to wear.
as I have the tools I make them myself from a special copper alloy which has nearly the same thermal expansion coefficient as aluminium and can withstand high loads.
If you opt for special ones I would go for as long as possible. every millimeter counts.
this results in lower radial forces on the guide and increase of life time of the guide.

They quoted me $450 to tear down the heads, If they are off the bike.
They ship them somewhere $550 to have it "worked"...
Then they assemble upon return....

First question - why are you replacing all the valve and guides? Find a shop that will look at what you have and only replace what needs replacing.

As far as valves, I tried to buy some from FBF a while ago and they were totally unresponsive to emails and phone calls. They should have good valves, but good luck actually getting them. After a lot of digging around I ended up buying the outrageously overpriced stock Ducati ones the last time I did some heads. Kibblewhite/Black Diamond is a universally respected standard for guides, and I see that they now have valves for the 907! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them:

If your guy is going to send your bare heads out to get them "worked" think about sending them out yourself. Edco in Petaluma is good, but I don't know if they strip/reassemble Ducati heads:

Ducshop and BCM would probably do it too, both worth a call, but on the east coast.

an other possibility for guides, is to bore out the existing guides, pull in liners and swage the liners to the old guides.
I have done this for a friend with a 1000DS monster by my Ducati dealer
this is a more or less common methode in the auto branche and works fine and very quick.
these sets are manufactured in the USA, but I have no name for you.
probably you can ask for it in a car restauration shop.

I need to replace the guides, as the last service the PO had done was boched up bad!!!
the horz had shims that were way too tight & caused my previous problems. Now the guides are loose! they won't take responsibility for their sh!t work! even tho I have the reciept for the work they informed me that they never worked on the paso... & acted like I brought a "Hodaka" in(chineese MC)

the PO told me that the tec said he put tight shims in, as the horz valve always wear faster.
Anyone even thinking of taking their bike in to "triumph/Ducati of Brea,Ca" should think again! Their a bunch of fools! Sory, Im pissed @ them!

I don't know the guys name, of whom they are send them out to. He said it is someone that Ducati North America recomends... anyone have any idea who this could be?

I will also try your advice , of going to a restoration shop.. there are several here close by.. cool, I finally have a reason to visit the FOOSE boys shop!!!

You can check these guys out. They did a total rebuild on mine, including the heads. They are located in Atlanta, GA, USA. These guys do all the engine work for most of the ducks raced in US and the owner was the head mechanic for the Ducati factory AMA racing effort a few years ago. Ducati engines is all that they do.
