Post subject: | 907ie front pad removal |
The calipers on my late 907ie (320mm discs) are slightly different from the ones on my 748 in that the pad locating pins do not have "R" pins securing them. The pins do not protrude through the back of the caliper at all. The pins move slightly, but obviously have some other mechanisim to stop them falling out. I've tried gently pushing them out from the back, but they don't want to come out. Is there a secret to extracting the pins? Thanks! |

Take a look at the left caliper from the right side of the bike thru the wheel spokes. Do you see the end of the retaining pin sticking out through a hole in the caliper? I use a long rod the same size if not smaller and if driving out the left brake pad retaining pin I stand on the right and line up the rod as straight as possible and tap it with a hammer. This drives the pin out. If you look at the pin, it has a compression collar on the end that compresses when you drive the pin in thus holding the pin in place. I bought some new pins like ones for a 900ss that have a little more length on them with a hole drilled in them for a safety pin clip just in case. Just repeat the same for the right side from the left side of the bike. Replace by tapping in with a hammer using a pin set tool. du907 |
