I am no longer riding my 906 on the road but a friend said that he will do a trackday at Cadwell Park and I can put my 906 in the van. Anyone done one of these recently? I am not joining the ACU - their licence requirement includes a classroom course then a circuit tuition where you are told exactly how to race... perverts. A frequent track outing should be quite a thrill don't you think!

I did a couple on my naked SSie a few years ago, I picked an easy cicuit for my 1st, Mallory and really enjoyed it despite it being wet for most of the day. The drizzly day did spoil it a bit so I went to Snetterton a few weeks later, checked there was empty places the day before, rode up and signed up on the day and had a great time. All I needed was my driving license, 1 piece leathers or zip together, I dont think they require a gold acu lid, and the bikes weren't scrutineered. There's a 15min safety briefing then you go out in 20 minute sessions in your group of about 30 or so bikes which are let out of the pitlane in smaller staggered groups, with the first 1 or 2 laps behind a marshall till the tyres are warm. Providing theres no incidents you should get 5-7 track sessions, 1 on track 2 off, with a break at lunchtime. Good fun go for it.

Doing track days w. my 907 conversion & recently with my 900SS bevel.
This is much fun & you can make people wonder how fast the old ladies can go, especially round corners.

Yes Paso can easily out handle even the most current street offerings when it comes cornering without a lot of knee draggin

Are you going to tell me your 906 is as fast as a 1000GSXR with some trillion Horsepower in a straight line? Even my 907 ST3 is not that fast...

Up to about 120 its pretty even. This was back road stuff I know I cant stay with them much past 130. Still, quite heart in mouth when I've kept up. Anyway so what if your 3 valve 907 isn't all that quick, the biggest factor of maximum power output is accurate carburation and don't let anyone tell you different.

Best thing is when the others think you only have 78hp. ANd if they wonder why you are that fast on the straight, you can tell them they just have to open the throttle earlier :-)

Er... it is obviously not standard, Conti 2:1 megaphone type, competition air filter, short carb stacks, adjustable fuel pressure valve, 70C thermostat valve, Spondon steel discs front, Spondon sliding adjusters, 750 Paso Marzocchi rear shock, Diopa single seat, revised ignition wiring & coils (to cure high rpm misfire). It looks as if it should go some but they will probably eat me along Park Straight as a ZX-10R can do 180 there.

Ah, ok. But who knows the Paso this well.
My 907 looks like a 907 (except the cans), but goes like something from outer space....

A friend of mine owns a 2006 Yamaha R6. Two years ago we were the first time on the track together. After a few laps he managed to keep up behind me for some corners and in the next break he told me, that he nearly can keep up on the straights  He was very proud, indeed.
Well, now, two years later, he is very much faster than me around the track. But he does this stuff 10x a year, while i was`nt on the track for 1.5 years now.

/edit: not to forget: He throws away his bike twice a year in average. I didn`t do that once in 7 years... The 907 is so easy to go fast with. But if you really know what you are doing, a modern bike is so much faster...
