the '88 - '90 750 Sport was in many ways, an Odd Duck. Here is a list of some of the odd things I have noted. Feel free to add your observations.
- It was the bridge between the F-1 series, and the SS series, and not really either one. - It had a carburetor from a car. - It was the last Ducati to have a Seat strap. (sport bike with a seat strap? Really?) - It had a fuel pump, and a fuel petcock with reserve. - The top of the fairing was copied from the F-1, but the bottom of the fairing was copied from the original 1972 Imola racer. - 16" wheels were in fashion, for about a year, and the tire sizes never again used on a production bike. - Real Naca vents in the lower faring. - Two different ignition systems inside of 3 years, Marelli Digiplex(borrowed from a car), and Kokuson.
Don't get me wrong, I love my Sport, and never intend on selling it. Its unique, and really fun to ride. Just how it came to pass in these modern times is always a mystery, and bit of amusement.
Cheers,
