I like to share this with every one since it can be really helpful if you are painting your bike. The brass grommets that Ducati used on the gas tank wich holds the well-nut for fastening the body panels will cause rust. Metals of different kinds should not be touching each other unless they are isolated. So, do not use brass. try to use plastic or nothing at all. I am going to teflon rap the well-nuts on the gas tank. About the Ducati decals, just mask them and take the mask off when you want to spray the clear coat. Don't try to go around the letter and trace them. It will not come out good. Just mask them and leave a straight edge of about 3 mils wider than the decals, they will look fine if you are painting the bike with a color of the same or close. My paint was three stage(white base, pearl and clear). You have to let the paint dry at each stage and wet sand 500 grit between the coats so you blend the decals and get rid of the dust if you are not spraying in a spray boot. |
