Post subject: | Oil on cooling fins |
Hi Guys. I found one of those little black miniature pucks on my garage floor with a dollop of oil on it. I discovered then that the "puck" is supposed to reside between the fins on the cylinder heads- presumably to stop them from vibrating. On close examination, I found oil on several of the fins, notably close to the spark plug location. But I have not been able to locate a source of the oil. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Perhaps copy replies to smseigel@shaw.ca |

If we are talking about the rear cylinder, on 900 heads there is a small blindplug just behind the spark plug hole. This blind plug often is a small cause of oil leakage. perhaps this plug is also on 750 heads? Michiel |

If it's what I'm thinking of, it blanks off an oil passageway that is machined in after the head is cast. As in they drill a hole to allow oil to flow in the head, and then cap the end so it doesn't leak.. which it ends up doing anyway... |
