In twenty years of riding I have run throw many sets of tires on my Paso 750, I just used up the last rear. I can't find a replacement. Were do you go to find a new rear tire 160 60 16? Or is there a useable alternative size? |

OK, I searched the Web and found a site that has Michelin A59X / M59X, http://www.partsforatvs.com. I placed an order for a rear. |

If they are stored properly, cool and dry and dark wrapped in tape there is no reason to be afraid of a tire that is 2 or even more years old |

to continue,The safety of a tire, any tire is a factor of the oil content of the compound. As the oil evaporates the rubber compound hardens and looses its ability to flex which of course produces more heat and shortens the life of the tire faster. There are many factors which lead to the evaporation of oil from a tire. Sunlight and ozone are the two biggest factors aside from heat leading to the premature aging of a tire. Generally the average consumer tire has a life expectancy of 6 years maximum. Racing tires are of course another issue altogether. |

I found a correct rear at the VMD swap meet in Ohio last July. It was new old stock (NOS) Michelin M59 and in very good condition, i.e. not dry and cracked. Got it for $60. My problem is the front, so settled for a Pirelli 120/80x16, meaning I had to space up the fender, as others have shown on this site. It looks wrong and raises the front end; the up side is the bike is now easier to put on the center stand. Have just detailed the whole machine, following a major service at 29K miles. You know, valve adjustment, new cam belts, fluids, plugs etc, etc. I want dearly to ride it, but am reluctant to put wear on irreplacable tires. ![]() ![]() |

Perhaps, it would be wise swap to the 17" wheels, preserving the rare 16" tires... Ciao |

I'm afraid you're right, Francesco. Looks as though I need to research how to do it. I think there are several posts on this site that explain and show how. Since I'm not a collector, I should probably sell it...but that would mean I no longer have it. (Can't bear the thought, as I've owned it since it was new and have 30K miles of fond memories. ![]() |

Yes, there are several threads on the forum, so you'll find all you need to do it. I don't think it needs to be a collector to keep a Paso. Really, I think the Pasos will not have any good value in the future as collectors' bikes. I use mine (even if always less), but I always love it. Ciao |
