Post subject: | The Mega Paso Project |
Since it appears I have completed my first Paso project, a functional restoration of a sorely abused 750 ( http://www.desmodemon.com/vicks_paso.html ), I am now ready to start on my next project. I will call this one the "Mega Paso". Here is a page that I have started for this project: http://www.desmodemon.com/mega_paso/ Through the restoration of the first Paso, I have accummulated various parts, and I have had the thoughts of building another Paso, a custom Paso, from some of these parts. I have shared some of my thoughts with Gerhard (paso750) over the last year about this project, but I am now ready to attempt to piece these parts together. Here are the specifications of the parts that I will attempt put together over the next few months (years?): Frame: 1988 Ducati Paso 750 Engine: 1999 Ducati ST4 916 liquid-cooled 104-bhp Electrical: stock 1999 ST4 wiring harness with factory ECU Front Suspension: 1994 Ducati SS900cr SHOWA USD forks with SS900 triple clamps Rear Suspension: Stock Paso shock and linkage connected to a modified ST4 steel swingarm Wheels and tires: front - 17" Brembo three-spoke from a '94 SS900 with 120/70-17 tire rear - 17" Brembo three-spoke from a '99 ST4 with a 180/55-17 tire Brakes: front - 4-piston Brembo calipers with full-floating 320mm, cast-iron rotors from a '94 SS900 rear - 2-piston Brembo caliper and rotor from a '94 SS900 I'll update this thread and the website as I progress on the project......Wish me luck!!!! |

I "wish luck" to You and as You know, we try to help You, as we can.... ![]() I am remembering, that someone tried to fit 888/851 engine to 906 Paso frame, so it "can be done", but surely it needs plenty of time... I pray, that you have just that time... Unfortunately i dont have... ![]() btw, do you try to register that bike to street use, or only to race track???? |

That`s Boz` bike. Terry, don`t complain in future that you have so much work with your bikes ![]() This is a big project. here the pics of the frame that was on ebay longer time ago There`s a german guy with a 907ie with a ST3 engine. If you can drive a car in the US that has the shape of a shoe I`m sure this will be street legal also ![]() Wouldn`t it be easier to use your 907ie swingarm ? Btw congratulations to your first project it is on range 2 of the most read posts ![]() G. |

It's easier to fit the 851/888 engine on the Paso frame, rather than the ST4 engine, because the shape of the 916 engine is different. I guess you have to do a little modify to the engine to fit it in the frame. I'd prefer to do a modification on the engine rather than a modification on the frame. Best wishes ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Ciao |

I can see where the Italians got their inspiration, it looks like a bowl of spaghetti ![]() Good luck with the project, Its a credit to you to take something like this on in the first place and then especially to take the time to post it on the forum. By the way, congratulations on your other resto, that was a great read. |

when making the engine mounts be very careful. I think it`s one of the difficult things, to keep the front sprocket in perfect line to the rear one. G. |

I just added a few more things to the webpage. You can now scroll to the bottom of that page and be directed to pages about the engine and front and rear suspensions for the bike. The only page that really has anything on it is the one for the rear suspension. I had the swingarm modified a couple of weeks ago and finally got around to painting it and taking a few pictures of it. http://www.desmodemon.com/mega_paso/rea ... nsion.html Here's a picture of the modified, steel ST swingarm... |
