Apparently they paid £400 for it and it is in a bad way both wheel rims are dented badly so it requires wheels and the body work is smashed front and rear, and mirrors are missing among other things wrong with it so i will be following what they do to get it back up and running again. Dave |

Just to update: i collected the bike yesterday and spent today checking things over as it was sold as a none runner. I stripped all the fairing panels off and then removed the weber and stripped and cleaned it out and cleared all the jets etc, cleaned spark plugs and checked there was a spark at the plugs, there was a nice big fat spark, replaced the weber and airbox, checked out the electics and all seemed as it should so i put the tank back on and put in fresh petrol, turned ignition on and hoped for the best and it started after a good few turns on the starter only on 1 cyl at first then the 2nd cyl fired and now it's running good so i'm happy it was certainly worth the 460 mile round trip to collect it. Dave... ps i had a look at the cam belts and they look to be in good order but is it best to replace them as the bike was last used 18 months ago ?? the bike was laid up as the owner had stopped riding bikes and he said there was nothing wrong with it except it just wanted the carb etc cleaning seems he was telling the truth |

belts HAVE TO BE changed every second year or every 12000 miles (20000 km) You may occour serious damages to the engine if a belt breakes!!! ![]() Valves might crash in the pistons, this mean destroy cylinders and heads!!! Moreover, the bike will STOP suddendly and this might happen anytime, such as while yuo're riding in a hard bend or truck passing!!! People who happen to break belts and just hear the engine become quiet are really lucky (this means me), and they should "go in a church and light on a big candle to St Mary" as we say in Italy! :funny: |

 thanks for the advice i will change the belts before i ride the bike as i did not want to do any damage to the engine. i have been told that when these bikes are not used like 18 months to 2yrs the cam belts retain a memory and can come off the pulley wheels or snap so thats why i asked you guys first before i rode it.
