Post subject: Special Sprockets?? Posted: Mon Jan 22, 2007 1:48 am |

Are the front and rear sprockets unique to a Paso or are they the same as other models? I am am close to buying an 88 750  , and the owner has new chain/sprockts in a box to go along with it. He will reduce the price and keep them as they will fit his 906.
I would like to gear the bike down a bit because most of my riding is done on slower winding roads (I have to go 80 miles to find a road that I can legaly go 70 mph  ).
I thought I read somewhere here that there are offset differences with the front, but was that just for engine or swingarm swaps  ?
Thanks

Apparently the sprockets are getting harder and harder to come by
certainly for the 907 and I think also the 750 although there are certain companies still listing them such as AFAM.
Also you can re space the gearbox sprocket quite simply using another sprocket restraint pplate with the teeth filed out !
The rear sprocket is pretty standard in terms of chain line but I think the hole centre spacing is not that common anymore. I had problems getting a DID chain kit about two years ago for my 750 as the Rear sprocket was out of stock for months. If the seller is asking reasonable money for the chain and sprocket kit and they are quality items I would take it personally.
For what its worth I think both the 750 and the 907 are over geared but not by too much - around two up on the back sprocket should be enough ( my mod for next summer!) to improve things a bit and make top gear over takes a little easier
